Associate Software Engineer- Java full stack

REI Systems delivers technology solutions for Federal clients, including application modernization, grants management, case management, data analytics, and advisory services. The Junior Software Engineer will develop and maintain secure, user-focused full stack applications using Java and modern web technologies while collaborating in Agile and DevSecOps environments. The role also supports testing, CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production incident resolution.

What you'll do:

• Develop and maintain full stack web applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, React, and JavaScript
• Develop backend business logic and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot
• Build responsive and reusable user interfaces using Angular, React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Integrate front-end applications with backend APIs, databases, and enterprise services
• Develop and maintain applications using PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, and other relational database technologies
• Write and maintain SQL queries and support application data models and integrations
• Develop clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code following established software engineering standards
• Troubleshoot application defects and integration issues with support from senior team members
• Develop unit and integration tests to improve application quality and reliability
• Participate in automated testing using tools such as JUnit, Cucumber, and Selenium
• Use Git and GitHub for source control, branching, collaboration, and code reviews
• Work with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines to build and deploy applications

What they're looking for:

• 1-3 years of professional software development experience
• Experience or strong foundational knowledge of Java
• Experience developing applications using Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks
• Experience with Angular, React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and relational databases
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, or comparable relational databases
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and modern source-control practices
• Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD concepts
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance
• Hybrid (2 Day per week in our Sterling, VA HQ on Tuesday and Wednesday)
