Attorney General's Honors Program

• Positions will be part of the Attorney General's Honors Program.

• Positions will be located in various sections throughout the Legal Divisions (Criminal, Civil, and Public Rights). Section placement is contingent on operational needs. 

• These positions will be located in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, or Oakland. We will make every effort to place you according to your location preference, however, location availability may depend on operational needs and not all Sections have positions available in all cities.
  
  

• The Deputy Attorney General classifications qualify for a “Hire Above Minimum" (HAM) salary (Hiring Above Minimum Policy).

  The starting salary for each classification will be:

  • Deputy Attorney General Range A (0-24 months): $8,846 and Range B (2-5 years): $9,956

  New to State candidates in the DAG series will be hired at the starting HAM salary of the classifications.

• Due to the advance recruitment of the Honors Program positions, applicants are not required to meet eligibility requirements/minimum qualifications to take the examination at this time. Applicants should select the "I have eligibility" option in order to continue applying for the position.

• You do not have to take an exam before you apply for a job.  However, you must complete and pass the exam to be eligible for hire.

• Other - Law School Transcripts (unofficial can be submitted for the application process).
• Other - One (1) Letter of Recommendation from an individual familiar with your legal work is required.
• Other - One (1) Letter of Recommendation from a law school professor familiar with your legal work is required.
