About this role
Job Description and Duties
Are you an employment/HR attorney with experience or interest in tort law who cares deeply about the future of science and nature in California? This position will be a member of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW) highly collaborative and creative legal office comprised of natural resources, employment, contract, administrative, enforcement, and water law legal professionals. This Attorney IV will take on the challenging legal role as CDFW's primary lead on a variety of the most difficult, complex, and sensitive legal work involving human resources, labor, employment, and tort matters. This attorney will work closely with CDFW management, including the highest-level staff in CDFW’s Administration Division and the Opportunity Office. The position will also collaborate on the most sensitive matters with appointees in the Department, Natural Resources Agency, and other parts of the Governor’s Administration. This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.
