About this role

The Global Institute for Health and Human Rights is associated with an entry-level accounting opportunity in Rochester, New York. The Audit or Tax Accountant will learn and apply audit and tax procedures, maintain accurate reporting and budgets, communicate with team members and clients, and work toward CPA or other professional certifications under close supervision.

What you'll do:

  • Internalizing and adhering to the firms policies and procedures
  • Learning and applying documentation and referencing standards
  • Developing a working knowledge of our technology including:
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Tax, audit, and research applications such as CCH Engagement/Checkpoint and ProSystems/Intelliconnect
  • Star Practice Management
  • Trello boards for scheduling
  • SnapEvalContinuous Performance Management Software for quick and efficient feedback
  • Learning and applying, under close supervision, applications for preparing audit procedures or tax compliance matters
  • Keeping team members well-informed
  • Tending to daily time reporting requirements, project budgets, and annual chargeable-hour goals
  • Demonstrating confident communication skills and showing a willingness to be a junior ambassador of the firm by participating in community and academic events and outings

  • The ideal candidate must be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a qualified accounting program
  • The candidate also must provide a timeline for fulfilling the requirements and becoming eligible to sit for the CPA exam
  • The successful applicant also must have current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis
