Are you an Automotive Mechanic committed to safety and motivated to deliver high-quality service? The Department of Transportation’s Butler County Maintenance Organization is seeking a skilled professional to join our team. In this role, you will perform essential maintenance and repair work on a wide range of equipment, including hand tools, construction machinery, and trucks powered by gasoline and diesel engines with both manual and automatic transmissions. In this position, you will perform skilled maintenance and repair work on a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment such as rollers, sweepers, and mixers, along with powered hand tools. Your responsibilities will include repairing diesel-powered equipment, with the exception of diagnostics, parts rebuilding, and work involving air brake systems or diesel fuel injection systems.

You will also carry out a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This includes oil changes, basic automotive diagnostics, tune-ups, tire replacements, and repairs to engine sub-assemblies, cooling systems, suspension components, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning units, fuel systems, brakes, steering mechanisms, and driveline systems.

Additionally, you will conduct official state safety and emissions inspections on vehicles within your licensing class, ensuring all repairs meet regulatory standards. This involves road-testing vehicles, issuing inspection stickers, and maintaining accurate State Inspection Records and related documentation. Your work on diesel equipment will include routine oil and filter changes, servicing components such as water pumps and gaskets, and performing repairs to electrical, cooling, suspension, and driveline systems.
