About this role

Garver is an employee-owned engineering, planning, and environmental services firm focused on aviation, transportation, buildings, federal, water and wastewater services, surveying, advisory services, and construction engineering and inspection. The company is seeking an Aviation Electrical Engineering Intern to train with experienced aviation design professionals and gain practical experience in airport lighting, photometric design, power distribution, plan and specification preparation, and construction administration.

What you'll do:

  • Work alongside and be mentored by experienced aviation design professionals and industry leaders
  • Work in an engineering office environment experiencing daily interactions with engineering staff, including weekly team meetings, design progress meetings, and construction progress meetings
  • Receive training from senior engineers in various elements of airport lighting, photometric design, power distribution design, and construction administration for commercial service and general aviation airports
  • Gain experience in plan and specification preparation for aviation projects
  • Conduct site visits to see Garver's aviation projects in real life, such as airport hangars, taxiways, and runways
  • Engage daily with fellow Garver Launch interns and industry professionals to build your network
  • Participate in Garver's acclaimed wellness program, empowering you to prioritize your overall well-being
  • Give back to your community through volunteer activities as part of our Garver Gives initiative
  • Enhance your professional growth by collaborating with Garver's Learning and Development team, which offers tailored training and programs, including skills-based courses, designed to support your development
  • Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required

What they're looking for:

  • Candidates must be pursuing an electrical engineering bachelor's degree in an ABET accredited program
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong interest in pursuing electrical engineering in the aviation industry
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D
