1Position Summary/Job Duties:
We are looking for a babysitter to pick up our son, Simon, from school on Monday afternoons and hang out with him until we get home from work. Typically, this would entail arriving at his school by 1:10pm to meet him on the playground, walking (less than a block) back to our house, and then playing together until I (mom) arrive home from work between 5 and 5:30pm. Ideally, playtime would be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, and also a mix of activities you choose and he chooses.
This position would actually start before the school year begins, because we also need a sitter for the week of August 17 and two days in the following week (roughly 9am - 5pm). In addition, we're hoping to develop a relationship with someone who can occasionally babysit on a Friday or Saturday night, approximately once per month.
Simon is a happy, easy-going six year old with a great sense of humor! He loves music (dancing, singing, playing instruments), biking, reading, playing with trains and cars, doing ‘science experiments,’ and any opportunity to dig or shovel. We are hoping to find a babysitter who can ride a bicycle, and ideally has access to one on campus, so that the two of you can go for bike rides around the neighborhood. He is fast enough that it's not possible to keep up with him unless you're on wheels too!
We live on the east side of Madison, within walking (or biking) distance of several parks, and close to a stop on the C bus line.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have prior experience with babysitting or child care
- Be certified in child CPR
- Be able to provide their own transportation to and from Lowell Elementary School
- Be able to ride a bicycle
- Be reliable - must be able to arrive on time for school pick-up, or communicate well in advance if plans change.
Application Instructions:
Please send an email expressing your interest in this position to [email protected]. Include your prior experiences with babysitting or child care, as well as confirmation that you meet the above qualifications. Be prepared to submit a list of at least two references and one letter of recommendation if we contact you about the position. Thank you for your interest in advance!
