IBM is a global technology and consulting company focused on infrastructure, hybrid cloud, and artificial intelligence. The Backend Developer Intern will contribute to enterprise-scale software development by building and maintaining backend services, APIs, data integrations, and internal tooling while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do:

• Assist in the development and maintenance of backend services, APIs, and data integrations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, architects, and product managers
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities
• Support deployment and monitoring of backend applications in cloud, enterprise, and hybrid environments
• Continuously learn and apply best practices in software engineering and backend architecture

What they're looking for:

• High School Diploma/GED
• •     Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• • Understanding of software development concepts
• • Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: (C, C++, Golang, Ruby, Python, Perl, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Shell scripting)
• • Software Development Lifecycle & Agile Methodologies (Scrums, DevOps workflows, exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins or Github Actions
• • APIs
• • Operating systems and how they work (i.e. Operating systems courses); Container technologies; Internet Services; and/or Managed Services
• • AI fundamentals and coding assistants
• • Communication skills and the ability to learn new technologies and procedures
• • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
• • **Exposure to Agile Methodologies:** Participation in agile methodologies, collaborating with team members to deliver solutions, with a focus on understanding the principles and practices of agile development
