Barista - HALL Arts Hotel

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Barista delivers an elevated coffee experience through expert preparation, refined hospitality, and attention to detail. This role represents the hotel brand by crafting exceptional beverages, engaging guests with warmth and professionalism, and maintaining an impeccable café environment.  

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: 

• Welcome guests with genuine warmth, professionalism, and brand-appropriate service. 

• Engage guests with confidence and discretion, offering personalized beverage recommendations. 

• Anticipate guest needs while maintaining a calm, upscale café atmosphere. 

• Handle guest requests and concerns with courtesy and efficiency. 

• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty beverages to exacting standards. 

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of coffee origins, roasts, extraction, and milk texturing. 

• Execute latte art and presentation consistent with luxury café expectations. 

• Prepare seasonal, signature, and non-coffee beverages with consistency and precision. 

• Confidently discuss coffee profiles, brewing methods, and flavor notes. 

• Recommend premium offerings, add-ons, and retail products in a natural, guest-focused manner. 

• Maintain accurate order entry and payment processing through the POS system. 

• Maintain a pristine, organized, and visually appealing café and barista station. 

• Ensure proper stock levels of coffee, milk, syrups, pastries, and retail items. 

• Perform opening, closing, and side work duties to brand standards. 

• Adhere to all hotel policies, health codes, and sanitation standards. 

• Communicate clearly with culinary, pastry, and hotel service teams. 

• Support service flow during peak morning and event periods. 

• Assist with training and mentoring junior baristas when requested. 

 Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.  

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

• Previous barista experience in specialty coffee, luxury hospitality, or upscale cafés preferred. 

• Strong espresso and milk-texturing skills. 

• Excellent communication and guest service abilities. 

• High attention to detail and consistency. 

• Calm, polished demeanor in a fast-paced environment. 

• Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays. 

• Must obtain and maintain any required state or local alcohol service permits or certifications (e.g., TABC, ServSafe Alcohol, or equivalent). 

• Must obtain and maintain any required state or local food service certifications (e.g. Food Handlers Card, ServSafe certification, or equivalent). 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:         

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 

• Ability to lift and carry trays, dishes, glassware, and equipment (up to 25 lbs.). 

• Manual dexterity for precise service techniques. 

• Must wear required personal protective equipment per job responsibilities.
