Hours:  36 hrs/wk Weekdays 6am-3pm with rotating Saturdays

Location:  Riley's Coffee Wagon

 

A Barista Team Lead is responsible for leading the coffeehouse team, ensuring high-quality service, and supporting store operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train baristas, ensuring they follow the set standards for customer service, product quality, and safety 

  • Customer Service: Build rapport with customers, respond to questions effectively, and maintain a friendly, professional attitude

  • Operational Oversight: Assist the Retail Manager in coordinating daily operations, including ordering and receiving products, completing paperwork, and planning work assignments

  • Training & Development: Help the Retail Manager with interviews and train new associates, appraise performance, and provide feedback to improve skills

  • Problem Solving: Address customer complaints, help resolve issues, and maintain a clean, organized store environment

  • Compliance: Follow food safety regulations, sanitation procedures, and company policies.  Must obtain and keep Serv Safe manager certification within 3 months of starting position.

  • Product Management: Stock and display products according to merchandising standards

 

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience: Typically 2+ years of barista experience, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Technical Skills: Knowledge of specialty drinks, ingredients, and coffee equipment; ability to use computer systems for orders and reports

Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, patience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs, carry, push, pull, and stand for long periods; work in a busy, sometimes noisy environment

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires ServSafe Manager Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
  • Requires basic computer skills. 
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
  • Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.    
  • Requires the ability to climb ladders.
  • Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
