Project/Unit Description
The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) is currently seeking a Branch Head for the Analysis and Algorithms (AAA) Branch in the Integrated Space Systems (ISS) Division. The AAA branch is located in Atlanta, GA. The ISS Division is a multi-disciplinary team of engineers dedicated to advancing space-centric solutions through applied research, rapid prototyping, and smart sustainment. Leveraging diverse expertise across engineering, fabrication and assembly, and operations, the team focuses on developing innovative, mission-driven technologies and transitioning them swiftly from concept to real-world deployment. We excel in integrating complex subsystems and delivering operational capabilities that address evolving challenges in the space domain.
The AAA branch combines mission/domain knowledge with a focus on analysis and evaluation to build tools, assess system function/performance, and design/develop capabilities which aid system integration. The branch thrives on its ability to leverage a core understanding of first principles, with a highly technical skills mixture that includes software development, signal processing, and automation.
Job Purpose
Lead multiple sponsored research projects. Manage Branch (7-15 FTE) administrative activities including hiring, appraisals and sponsored project success.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support training, professional/career development, and mentorship for branch members
- Coordinate with ISS division and branch leaders on business strategy and capture
- Build and strengthen robust research collaboration between AAA and other ISS researchers/programs
- Perform research and development activities alongside the other researchers in the branch
- Develop proposals for new research
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Experience leading small teams > 5 engineers/team members
- Experience leading research or technical development programs
- Experience developing, integrating, and/or testing embedded and electronic systems
- Knowledge and experience in developing/integrating algorithms and analysis capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience and understanding of US Space Force mission and needs
- Experience with sponsor and business development
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in executing technical efforts
- Expertise in advanced algorithm and analysis tools and practices
Travel Requirements
10% - 25% travel
Education and Length of Experience

- 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or other similar technical field of study
- 3 years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or other similar technical field of study
- 0 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or other similar technical field of study

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
