About this role
The Georgia Department of Human Services is a state agency providing services that promote self-sufficiency, independence, and protection for vulnerable children and adults. The Well-Being Operations Specialist provides administrative, fiscal, contractual, and business operations support, including invoice processing, financial reporting, expenditure analysis, and reconciliation of program financial records.
What you'll do:
- Accurately and completely processes invoices and financial transactions
- Provides secondary review of submitted invoices for accuracy and fiscal integrity as well as compliance with applicable principles, standards, guidelines, police, and procedures
- Provides technical assistance to contractors to correct invoices based on timely recognition of problems and accurate identification of required adjustments
- Coordinates work with leadership and colleagues to provide accurate and meaningful financial information in a timely manner
- Performs adequate research and analysis of collected data for the preparation of reports
- Ensures accuracy of reports by verifying output and making corrections as appropriate
- Submits completed reports within established time frames
- Analyzes complex reconciliation documents and other information to arrive at logical and accurate conclusions
- Determines appropriate corrective action to take when faced with discrepancies
- Adequately analyzes the effects of contract expenditures, expenses, and transactions on reports
- Reviews, analyzes, and resolves related problems
- Carefully reviews all source documents for appropriate content and accuracy
What they're looking for:
- Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and make presentations on behalf of organization
- Ability to work independently with limited direction
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience related to area of assignment.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year
- Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience
- Excellent planning and organizational management skills
- Ability to work in a very fast-paced, stressful environment while effectively and accurately managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively at multiple levels of the organization and with multiple project teams as well as external stakeholders
- Expertise in making strategic decisions based on data as well as best practices
- Expertise in early childhood and childcare programming
