Capital Markets Mortgage Desk Intern

Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas offers an internship providing first-hand insight into the daily operations of a capital markets mortgage trading desk. The intern will support mortgage portfolio management, product pricing, reporting automation, market research, transaction verification, and analysis of portfolio management strategies.

What you'll do:

• Learn about the management of a mortgage portfolio
• Support product pricing (advances and mortgages); facilitate transaction verification and documentation
• Automate reports and processes using SSRS/ VBA/SQL or Power BI
• Test new products and systems
• Identify and collect market information; verify information validity with multiple sources
• Conduct market research; perform ad hoc analyses in support of portfolio management strategies

What they're looking for:

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, or similar fields with a quantitative focus
• Working knowledge of fixed income financial instruments and risk measures required
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel; must be able to create and maneuver spreadsheets and data
• Knowledge in VBA, SQL and Power BI
• Attention to detail is a must
• Conceptual, analytic, and information technology skills appropriate to financial asset pricing and risk measurement
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills combined with ability to plan, organize, and carry out multiple project assignments
• Exposure to data science and computer science preferred
