Case Conference Bilingual Liaison

Description

The Case Conference Spanish Bilingual Liaison supports families who speak Spanish as their primary language by ensuring full and meaningful participation in the special education process. This role provides interpretation and translation during case conferences and related meetings, ensures accurate communication of IEP content, and builds strong connections between families and school staff.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide interpretation services (Spanish/English) during case conferences and other special education meetings.

• Translate written special education documents, correspondence, and parent communications from English to Spanish (and vice versa).

• Ensure families fully understand their rights, responsibilities, and the IEP process.

• Assist staff in communicating effectively with Spanish-speaking families.

• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all interpretation and translation.

• Support compliance with IDEA by ensuring equal access to information for Spanish-speaking parents/guardians.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Qualifications

Required:

• High level of proficiency in both English and Spanish (oral and written).

• Strong understanding of interpretation and translation practices.

• Ability to communicate complex educational concepts in family-friendly language.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
