About this role

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protects communities from health, safety, and security threats and supports national health security. This fellowship provides experience in public health emergency preparedness and response through data management, analysis, scientific writing, and collaboration on jurisdictional readiness projects.

What you'll do:

  • Analyzing key informant interview data from existing readiness and response projects related to personal protective equipment distribution during the 2024 dairy cattle influenza A(H5N1) outbreak and/or state preparedness for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
  • Analyzing data on emergency response technical assistance, housed in Salesforce, to improve support provided to jurisdictions during public health emergencies
  • Cleaning, managing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using tools such as R, Excel, and other appropriate analytic software
  • Contributing to manuscripts, reports, presentations, or other scientific communications and participating in the review, clearance, publication, and dissemination of findings
  • Collaborating with Jurisdictional Readiness and Response Branch staff and other CDC researchers to coordinate analyses, interpret findings, and advance preparedness and response projects

What they're looking for:

  • The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing or have received a bachelor's or master's degree in the one of the relevant fields (public health, epidemiology, the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences)
  • The degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained
  • • Degree: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
