Our Novant Health Autumn Hall Clinic is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant!
What We're Looking For:- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; Medical Assistant curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration. Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, and an education agreement signed. Certification/registry accepted: CMA with the American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH), and RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Alternative Work Experience (for eligibility to take NHA, ARMA, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP or AMT exams, if not already certified or registered on hire): Applicant shall be employed as a supervised medical assistant for a minimum of one (1) year (NHA or NHCWA) within the last three (3) years, for a minimum of 2 years (NCCT, NAHP), for a minimum of 3 years (ARMA), for a minimum of 5 years (AMT) of the last 7 years (with no more than 2 of those years as an instructor in a post-secondary medical assistant program). Or graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing. Experience must include both clinical (including medication administration) and administrative duties.
- Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
- Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
What You'll Do:
Provides direct patient care by obtaining vital signs, completing intake assessments, documenting patient history, assisting with exams and procedures, and administering medications and immunizations as ordered. Performs clinical lab duties including specimen collection (venipuncture and skin puncture), processing, documentation, and quality control in compliance with HIPAA and lab standards. Supports data collection, EMR updates, billing codes, and referral coordination to ensure accurate patient records. Assists with front desk and clerical functions including scheduling, registration, check-in/out, insurance verification, and co-pay collection. Delivers patient education under clinician direction and reinforces care instructions to support self-management. Promotes teamwork, clear communication, and a positive patient experience aligned with organizational service standards, while maintaining ongoing clinical competency and compliance with required training and certifications.
