The Director Assistant & Chief of Staff, HR Business Partner/Colleague Strategic Partner (CSP) will support the SVP, Colleague Strategic Partner. This SVP provides dedicated support to the leaders of U.S. Consumer Services (USCS), Global Advertising & Brand Management (GABM), Corporate Development and Amex Digital Labs.
This role will lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, optimize operating rhythms and governance, and partner with business leaders to accelerate transformation, enhance the colleague experience, and deliver measurable enterprise value. In addition, the Director Assistant & Chief of Staff will foster a connected, high-performing team by strengthening collaboration, cultivating an inclusive and engaging team culture, and creating opportunities that reinforce alignment, transparency, and shared purpose across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with various partners across the enterprise including but not limited to CEG Colleague Strategic Partners, other CEG Centers of Excellence, Corporate Affairs and Communications, Finance and other partners to ensure alignment on relevant decisions and projects .
- Act as a central point of contact for urgent business priorities and initiatives.
- Own the strategic planning and execution of key leadership and team meetings, partnering closely with the SVP to shape timely, high-impact agendas, develop executive-ready materials, and ensure leadership discussions drive informed decisions, clear priorities, and measurable outcomes.
- Shape and sustain a high-performing team culture by strengthening connectivity across the organization, enhancing internal communications, and designing experiences and initiatives that build engagement, reinforce shared goals, and enable collaboration.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CSPs as-needed, providing day-to-day support to advance business priorities, drive execution, and manage strategic initiatives.
- Lead special ad hoc projects for the team.
Qualifications
- Exceptional qualitative and quantitative problem-solving skills (issue identification, problem structuring, analysis, development of recommendations).
- The ability to use data to develop insights, make decisions, create solutions and drive continuous improvement.
- Business acumen and strategic thinking: understand our business and CEG strategy, plans, and the impact of internal and external factors.
- The ability to design and deliver high-quality, end-to-end, colleague-centric solutions that enable business success.
- Have exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including strong Microsoft office skills including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to learn quickly, work optimally with little direction, and be willing to take the lead where appropriate.
- Ability to build strong relationships, collaborate with senior leadership, business partners and across the Colleague Experience Group.
- Be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to drive results and get things done in a self-directed manner, with excellent organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and the ability to navigate critical matters.
