Why does the job exist?
The Child Support Specialist will:
- Gather data;
- Prepare legal documents to establish paternity;
- Establish child and medical support orders;
- Enforce child, medical, and spousal support orders.
How does it get done?
The Child Support Specialist is responsible for:
- Providing excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills in order to complete the tasks of establishing and enforcing court orders;
- Testifying in court regarding a child support case, if requested by an Attorney.
Who are the customers?
- Parties of child support cases;
- Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management;
- CSSD Attorneys.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate has:
- Experience with the preparation or interpretation of Legal Documents;
- Financial Experience;
- Customer Service experience;
- Experience as an Expert Witness in Testifying;
- The ability to handle high volume of cases and meeting deadlines.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' experience in legal research or legal document preparation, accounting, finance or social health, or human service program development or delivery and/or clerical experience in a Child Support Office. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.
