About this role

NEOGOV is part of the City and County of Honolulu, and they are seeking a Civil Engineer II to join their Department of Facility Maintenance. The role involves assisting with engineering projects related to storm water management and includes responsibilities such as planning, design, construction management, and GIS mapping.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program
  • Plan, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping
  • May participate in periodic cross training and supplementary work activities within the division to comply with regulatory obligations

What they're looking for:

  • At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
  • Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty
  • One (1) year of non-registered professional civil engineering experience
  • Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (Type 3), as required
  • Knowledge of: Principles and practices of general civil engineering, Engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials, Topographic surveying principles and practices, Structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering concepts as they apply to civil engineering
  • Ability to: Perform engineering drafting and basic design work, Interpret engineering plans, specifications, and land descriptions, Plot and analyze survey notes, Prepare maps, plans, profiles, and cross-sections
