Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of large-scale environmental restoration, flood risk protection and stormwater infrastructure projects.
This role requires deep technical expertise including complex problem-solving skills, evaluating and designing solutions to address problems, conditions or new requirements, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has supported or led civil/site engineering aspects of different projects and bringing extensive experience in complex public infrastructure projects, including Florida Everglades restoration projects, pump stations, drainage canals, reservoirs, stormwater treatment areas, stormwater storage facilities, and integrated water resource systems.
Main Responsibilities:
With high-level goals provided, performs the following primary functions:
1. Lead, coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams
2. Lead the development of a design from project planning and research to preparation of design reports and construction documents
3. Utilize advanced techniques for the analysis and design of specialized civil elements
4. Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and permitting documentation
5. Drive project schedules, deadlines, and deliverables
6. Organize and lead project-related meetings and presentations with internal team members or external consultants, owner/clients and vendors
7. Ability to check work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
8. Participate in constructability review
9. Plan and execute QA/QC activities for individual projects
10. Review and develop design standards and specifications related to civil design
11. Creates and signs off on basic to highly complex engineering designs and construction documents involving site layout development, site grading, drainage stormwater treatment areas including levees, canals, reservoirs, and impoundments, and stormwater management systems including computer literacy in hydrology and hydrology calculations.
12. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary.
13. Contributes to firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
14. Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
15. Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs. Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
16. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
17. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
7 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
