Employee Health   is seeking a Full- Time Clinical Assistant to join our dedicated team serving Binghamton, NY,  and nearby communities.

The Clinical Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support within an outpatient practice. This position works closely with providers, patients, and care teams to deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining efficient office operations. Responsibilities include obtaining patient information, assisting with examinations, coordinating care, scheduling appointments, and supporting day-to-day clinical activities

Your Workday: Full-time position Typical hours: Monday-Friday 8-5 dayshift

Employee Health:

Employee Health focuses on the well-being, safety, and health of Guthrie caregivers and staff across the health system. Instead of serving traditional patients, you help support the workforce that delivers care throughout the organization.
 

Guthrie's Employee Health department is involved in:

  • Employee wellness initiatives
  • Immunization programs
  • Workplace safety efforts
  • Injury and illness assessment
  • Regulatory compliance activities

This provides exposure to occupational and employee health services that differ from a traditional clinic setting

Employee Health works collaboratively with clinicians and departments throughout the organization. This allows Clinical Assistants to interact with a variety of healthcare professionals and gain broad exposure to the healthcare system.

 

Position Summary: 

Performs duties of a clinical and clerical nature. Maintains records and applies knowledge and skills to run a full functioning office for one or more Providers in Clinic. Assists professional staff by performing routine duties for candidates and employees.

Education, License & Cert: 

High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant School strongly preferred or prior medical office experience.

Experience: 

Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to communicate and excellent customer service skills a must. Must be dependable, professional, flexible, and able to multi‐task. Must have computer skills and previous Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience. Abe proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Essential Functions: 

1. Performs liaison duties between candidates, employees, volunteers, and Providers, hospital staff, etc.

2. Responsible for greeting candidates, employees, volunteers and updating various pertinent information into the medical record.

3. Directs examinee to the examination room and prepares for them the services needed.

4. Interviews candidate/volunteer/employee to obtain medical history. Determines vital signs, (weight, temperature, blood pressure, vision, hearing, etc), and documents in the patient’s medical record.

5. Conduct respirator fit testing and urine drug screening.

6. Process ancillary reports and all other candidate/volunteer/employee results to the provider for review and assists with patient communication. 7. Routes examinee after exam to proper area for visit completion.

8. Performs duties such as, phlebotomy, EKG’s, specimen collection, assisting with procedures, etc. Ensures accurate specimen labeling in compliance with clinic protocol.

9. Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms.

10. Maintains equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and clinic policies and procedures. Performs and documents quality control on equipment as required.

11. Applies principles of disinfection/sterilization/disease transmission/universal precautions as per clinic and manufacturer guidelines.

12. Maintains confidentiality, respect and consideration of employee and others. Applies Guthrie values (patient centeredness, teamwork, excellence) when performing daily tasks.

13. Assists in maintaining appropriate level of supplies.

14. Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments. Takes messages of a medical nature (requests for prescription refills, test results, etc). Performs other clerical functions as necessary.

15. Exhibits excellent telephone etiquette.

16. Coordinate candidate/examinee/volunteer appointments.

17. File employee health charts based on last name and keep the employee/volunteer charts filed in an orderly manner and keep the file room organized and clean.

18. Must be willing to cross train and perform other assigned duties as needed.

19. Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory events such as in‐ services/classes/training as required by the organization.

20. Complies with the dress code policy as set forth by Guthrie.

21. Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals.

Pay ranges from $17.40-$25.16 based on experience

Other Duties: 

1. Travel for this position is sometimes required.

2. Participation in community and employee engagement activities is required.
