About this role

The University of Chicago’s Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology is seeking part-time Clinical Associates at 60% effort for renewable terms of up to three years. Appointees will provide comprehensive clinical radiation oncology services primarily at Silver Cross Hospital, a local community hospital, working in close collaboration with existing departmental faculty and the multidisciplinary cancer care team. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits eligible. The University of Chicago offers a wide range of benefits programs and resources for eligible employees, including health, retirement, and paid time off. Information about the benefit offerings can be found in the Benefits Guidebook.

Appointees will support and complement faculty in Radiation and Cellular Oncology at The University of Chicago and affiliated satellite locations. Responsibilities will include evaluating new patients, developing and overseeing radiation treatment plans, providing on-treatment management and follow-up care, managing treatment-related symptoms, and coordinating care with referring physicians and other oncology specialists. Appointees will participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, peer review, and departmental quality and patient safety activities. Appointees will provide clinical coverage for the community practice, including coverage during physician absences, and participate in the broader departmental on-call and clinical coverage. Clinical schedules and coverage responsibilities will be assigned consistent with the 60% appointment. Appointees will also participate in clinical trials available at the facility, including identifying potentially eligible patients and collaborating with faculty and research staff to support protocol-directed care.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent; 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois; 3) be board certified or board eligible in radiation oncology; and 4) have completed an ACGME-accredited residency or equivalent in radiation oncology.

We especially welcome applicants with experience in community radiation oncology, a commitment to patient-centered care, and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, referring physicians, and multidisciplinary clinical teams. Experience caring for patients across a broad range of cancer diagnoses and participating in clinical trials is preferred.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: https://apply.interfolio.com/195792.
