May coordinate observational (non-treatment) studies.%26nbsp;%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3EThe Clinical Research Assistant (Emergency Medicine) supports the conduct of clinical research studies within the Emergency Department by coordinating patient-facing and regulatory research activities. This position is responsible for identifying and screening potential study participants, recruiting and obtaining informed consent from eligible patients, collecting clinical and research data, performing study-related specimen collection including phlebotomy, and ensuring accurate documentation of research procedures. The Clinical Research Assistant works closely with investigators, clinical staff, sponsors, and study participants to facilitate protocol adherence and high-quality data collection in a fast-paced acute care environment. Additionally, the role supports regulatory compliance through the maintenance of study records, preparation of regulatory documents, and adherence to institutional, federal, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Assists with maintenance of study level documentation.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists with data queries and possible edits for accuracy.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ECompiles data for regulatory requirements and /or deadlines for local or sponsor submissions.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EMaintains existing databases and ensures data integrity.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EUnderstands visit schedules, criteria and protocol requirements for routine and low complexity trials (e.g., questionnaire, data registry, scripted); schedules research visits.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists research staff by completing research protocol related tasks.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists with preparing annual reports and/or modifications to institutional review board (IRB). This may include reportable events (UPIRSO).%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EReviews and abstracts information from medical records including eligibility criteria.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ERecruits and enrolls patients in research study that may include consenting patients after training and with supervision.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists with ordering and maintaining research supplies following university/department procedures, ensuring that equipment is in good working order.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EWith adequate training and supervision, assists with collecting and processing specimens following established procedures/protocols.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists in preparing studies for closeout, (e.g. packing files, documenting files for storage, shipping extra supplies back to sponsor).%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EWith adequate training/credentialing and supervision, performs study procedures such as phlebotomy, vital signs, and EKG%27s needed for research study.
