A Brief Overview

Perform advanced-level statistical analysis at all phases of a research project, from protocol development and study design through data analysis and writing up and reporting results

What You Will Do
  • Evaluate research studies, recommend statistical procedures, and prepare statistical plans independently, including, but not limited to, hypothesis tests, regression models, meta-analysis and survival analysis to analyze the data.
  • Prepare comprehensive statistical reports to communicate findings with investigators. Prepare statistical components of presentations, abstracts, study protocols, and manuscripts.
  • Describe statistical methods and results to fellow biostatisticians/methodologists as well as to broader audiences with less statistical expertise such as research faculty and staff.
  • Program and create datasets using SAS, R, SQL or Python; combine multiple raw data sets, execute data cleaning and quality control procedures, and derive analytic variables as a data scientist. Perform complex programming using advanced options in SAS procedures and macros, or R/SQL/Python features
  • Serve on institutional committees such as the DSMB (Data Safety Monitoring Board), and create and present biostatistics education sessions
  • Lead and supervise team of biostatisticians and data scientists and manage assigned projects. Mentor and train junior staff, including delegating assignments and providing project guidance as needed
  • Provide expertise and guidance to investigators at all phases of the research process, from protocol development to study design, dataset analysis, interpretation and publication of results.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
