Co-op - AI Engineer - Spring 2027

Teknor Apex Company is seeking an AI Engineer Co-op to join its Information Technology team and gain hands-on experience in an enterprise manufacturing environment. The role supports the development, testing, evaluation, documentation, and continuous improvement of internal AI applications while assisting with requirements gathering and AI use-case evaluation.

What you'll do:

• Support prompt development, testing, and evaluation for internal AI applications and use cases
• Assist with testing AI applications to evaluate functionality, accuracy, consistency, and overall user experience
• Document testing results, application functionality, processes, and identified opportunities for improvement
• Support the intake and evaluation of new AI use cases from teams across the organization
• Assist with gathering and documenting business and technical requirements for AI projects
• Work with members of the IT team to understand how AI solutions are developed, tested, deployed, and maintained in an enterprise environment
• Gain exposure to multiple production AI tools and applications used across Teknor Apex
• Assist with evaluating AI outputs and identifying opportunities to improve prompts, workflows, and application performance
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to understand user needs and translate them into clear requirements
• Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and other learning opportunities throughout the internship
• Complete other AI, data, and technology-related projects as assigned

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• Proficiency in Python through coursework, projects, internships, or other hands-on experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, and emerging technologies
• Ability to learn new technologies and technical concepts quickly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical team members
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
