About this role

Salt River Project is a public power and water utility serving customers in Arizona. The College Intern - Accounts Payable will support the finance team by assisting with invoice processing, financial data entry, vendor communication, documentation, and accounts payable reporting.

What you'll do:

  • This position will assist Accounts Payable technicians and analyst
  • Invoice Processing: Assist in the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and approval
  • Data Entry: Enter and maintain financial data in accounting software, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Vendor Communication: Communicate with vendors to address inquiries and resolve payment issues
  • Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable files and records
  • Reporting: Assist in generating accounts payable reports and summaries for management review

  • This is a year-round paid opportunity for a working student
  • The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum
  • Applicant must be enrolled and attending a minimum of six (6) college credits per semester (100+ level courses)
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • All employees must live and work in Arizona
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
