About this role
Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve is part of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, focusing on homeland security. They are seeking a College Intern for the Critical Infrastructure Unit to assist with data management and GIS tasks.
What you'll do:
- Assisting in collecting, cleaning, and organizing critical infrastructure data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Ohio Critical Infrastructure Data System (OCIDS) standards
- Update and maintain Geographic Information Systems (GIS) datasets and related documentation, utilizing the ArcGIS Online platform
- Support data quality assurance efforts by reviewing records for errors, duplicates, or inconsistencies, and coordinating corrections with project team members
- Remote meetings and field visits with county representatives to present/demonstrate the capabilities of OCIDS
- Additional homeland security related tasks as assigned
What they're looking for:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university
- Be in good standing with the college/university
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0
- Be enrolled in at least one course
- Be pursuing a degree or finishing a degree
- The Major/Field of Study should be in: Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Studies, Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), Intelligence Analysis/Studies, City/Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Data Science / Analytics
