Combination Welder - 1st Shift (M-F; 7PM-3PM) $22.57

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Combination Welder to be based out of Philadelphia. Reporting to Manufacturing Supervisor, the Combination Welder will be responsible for Support manufacturing operations by safely operating equipment, performing welding and quality inspections, maintaining inventory and production records, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient work environment that meets productivity, quality, and safety standards. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:


Combination Welder's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workplace by following all 5S, Standard Operating and Safety Procedures, including wearing required PPE. 
  • Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE 
  • Cross train in different areas of the shop as required
  • Maintains inventory by identifying and labeling product and WIP.  
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment 
  • Mig and Tig welding of aluminum, steel, galvanized and stainless-steel material.  
  • Inspecting quality of work performed 
  • Monitoring and changing gas tanks and wire as needed, facilitating reorder process. 
  • Using precision measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometers, and protractors 
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints 
  • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
  • Ensure production recording is completed as required
  • Housekeeping and sanitation
  • Performing tasks as assigned by his or her manager.

What you’ll bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
  • Technical School Welding Certificate (preferred)
  • 6+ months welding experience
  • Ability to work scheduled hours Monday-Friday
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to squat, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and work a 10-hour shift in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed

Within 3 months, you’ll: 

  • Complete any required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore’s Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations. 

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the plant environment can be loud. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protectors, hi-visibility uniforms, and metatarsal steel-toed work boots.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $22.57. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs ad may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
