Community Service Officer - Maplewood

About the Department

Community Service Officers (CSO) support the Maplewood Police Department, in partnership with its community work to solve problems relating to crime and the fear of crime, with an emphasis on meeting community needs.

To perform paraprofessional work as a uniformed non-sworn officer assisting the patrol division in assignments not requiring the exercise of police powers; assists other police department staff in routine department functions; provide animal control services; performs related duties as required. 

During term of employment, attend an accredited post-secondary institution with intent to become eligible for POST licensure. 

Works under a sergeant and receives general guidance from the on-duty patrol supervisor, lieutenants, deputy chief and chief.
