DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position oversees water treatment plant operations and guides inmates who perform maintenance and testing duties at SCI Huntingdon. As a Corrections Water Treatment Plant Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
- Plant Supervision: Direct inmate work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment
- Water Testing: Perform sampling and chemical testing to check water quality, clarity, and safety
- Work Scheduling: Assign tasks, plan work activities, and review completed work for accuracy and compliance
- Equipment Oversight: Monitor motors, pumps, valves, and related components to ensure proper function
- Inmate Training: Teach inmates how to operate and maintain water treatment systems and evaluate their performance
- Activity Monitoring: Supervise plant operations and ensure adherence to established procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with rotating days off.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
- One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant.
- You must possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11.
- You must possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators.
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
