Costco Data Systems Intern - IT Product Owner

Costco Travel IT is responsible for the technical future of Costco Wholesale, the third largest retailer in the world with wholesale operations in fourteen countries. Costco Travel Technology teams are leveraging modern enterprise programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure to build innovative systems to aid Costco members in all their vacation planning needs. The Costco Travel Technology Department is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program to participate in a 12-week paid internship program during 2027. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco Travel Technology Delivery groups, attend presentations by Executive Management, and at the end of the internship create and present a summary of their experience to management and peers. The Intern will collaborate with an agile delivery team to observe and support the implementation, measurement, and iterative learning process of product improvements, and will support the execution of product features within the Costco Travel roadmap, learning how to align delivery with KPIs that integrate requirements from both internal and external stakeholders. ## Role - Works with stakeholders to identify solutions that support their business requirements. - Works independently and within a team environment. - Pays attention to detail, self motivated with the ability to follow instructions and completes assignments on time. - Learns and applies new concepts, processes, and tools. - Takes initiative to solve problems and multi-tasks by prioritizing projects and deadlines. - Communicates effectively with team members, stakeholders, and all levels of management. - Articulates requirements for each user story with detailed acceptance criteria. - Supports business strategy by forming a backlog of features and user stories for use by the delivery team. - Creates a presentation to demo their work. ## Required - Deep understanding of business requirements elicitation pursuant to specific programs/projects involved. - Proficient in requirements gathering, business modeling, project scoping and use case creation. - Experience in utilizing standard documentation and backlog management tools/utilities. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and stay well organized. - Currently maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. - Currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university. ## Recommended - Deadline oriented and capable of self-management. - Strong work ethic, demonstrated attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills. - Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.Required Documents: Cover Letter, Resume.
