Position Duties

This position supports children and families who are facing concerns related to abuse or neglect. The work focuses on direct service in homes and community environments. 
 As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Conduct Assessments: Evaluate safety and needs during investigations of abuse or neglect
  • Provide Case Management: Coordinate services and monitor progress for assigned cases
  • Support Families: Offer guidance in areas such as daily living, child care, employment, and household stability
  • Arrange Placements: Place children in foster homes when needed and maintain ongoing communication
  • Advocate for Services: Make referrals and work with community partners to improve service outcomes
  • Participate in Training: Attend county programs and formal instruction leading to caseworker certification

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: After the first six (6) months of employment, you may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Eddystone. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or 
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.

Legal Requirements: 
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
