Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s highly ranked public School of Education is one of the first and most productive education research centers in the world. It has assisted scholars and practitioners develop, submit, conduct and share grant-funded education research for 60 years. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to take ownership of a wide variety of tasks from logistics and event coordination to financial tracking and communications. Hours per Week: At least 10 hrs/wk during the school year and up to 40 hrs/wk in Summer

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled UW- Madison students studying Business Administration, Operations Management, or related undergraduate program (or equivalent career interest)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:
--Strong organizational and time-management skills
--Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and shifting priorities
--Proficiency in standard office tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.)
--Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred:
--Prior experience in an office, lab, or administrative setting

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Financial Management & Administration — Process and track reimbursement requests; maintain financial records; support budgeting, financial monitoring, forecasting, and reporting activities.

Operations & Systems Management — Support day-to-day administrative functions; develop and maintain operational systems, workflows, documentation, and data management processes; serve as a point of contact for operational needs.

Event & Space Coordination — Assist in planning and executing center events; coordinate scheduling, catering, room reservations, setup, and management of shared spaces.

Publications & Research Tracking — Maintain records of publications, submissions, research outputs, and related deadlines.

Communications, Marketing & Business Development — Support branding, communications, outreach, partnership development, and revenue-generating initiatives such as fee-for-service opportunities.

Operations, Systems & Research Administration — Support administrative functions, maintain operational systems and workflows, and track publications, submissions, and research-related deadlines.

Physical Demands:
