This position supervises custodial services to ensure that all assigned areas of the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home remain clean, safe, and in good order. The role supports facility operations by providing direction, training, and oversight to custodial staff. As a Custodial Work Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Oversee custodial employees, inspect completed work, and order corrections or improvements as needed
- Work Scheduling: Maintain time records, assign daily tasks, and adjust schedules to ensure full coverage
- Training Support: Plan, conduct, and attend meetings, in-service training, and on-the-job instruction to promote staff development
- Supply Management: Maintain records, requisition supplies, and request repairs for building areas and equipment
- Employee Evaluation: Prepare position descriptions, conduct reviews, and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary
- Safety Oversight: Identify hazards, enforce safety rules, and use personal protective equipment to maintain a secure environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have Sunday and Monday off.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Organization or Location Restrictions:
- This posting is restricted to Department Military and Veterans Affairs, Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home employees only.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Custodial Worker 2 (commonwealth title); or
- Two years of experience performing custodial work.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
