About this role
Garmin International is seeking a full-time Cyber Security Engineer 1 at their U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to Garmin's cloud information security strategy and supports the implementation of technical cloud security controls, threat management, and vulnerability management.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate across a team of highly skilled security professionals, promoting knowledge transfer, skill development, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Participate in project and program planning and maintain accurate status of overall work progress
- Contribute to the team roadmap and priorities
- Participate in the evaluation and adoption of emerging security technologies to improve threat detection, prevention, and response
- Serve as a technical security resource for cloud services running on Azure and/or AWS
- Assist in working with business teams to help ensure cloud-deployed services follow established security and availability requirements
- Participate in the support and operation of cloud security tools, including cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP) tooling, to identify, analyze, and prevent public cloud exploits
- Assist in supporting security capabilities for microservice and cloud-native applications within a CI/CD automated environment
- Utilize and secure code and image repositories such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Harbor, Docker Hub, ACR, and ECR
- Provide security support for enterprise level container-based systems in public and private cloud environments (EKS, AKS, OpenStack, Docker, CRI-O, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Assist in deploying and managing components of public cloud infrastructure, such as networks, storage, and compute resources, following established security practices
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or other relevant field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
- Demonstrate clear verbal/written communication skills and work well with others in a team-oriented environment
- Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with peers
- Manage time and follow-up responsibilities with guidance
- Produce organized and accurate documentation while learning established standards
- Understand core information technology services such as networking, storage, databases, and web-based services
- Experience deploying, managing, and securing public cloud services
- An understanding of container-based platforms and related services
- Familiar with developer tooling such as code repositories and CI/CD platforms
- Experience with Azure or AWS public cloud services
