Cyber Security Internship

C Spire is a technology and connectivity company focused on improving lives through technology. The Cyber Security Intern will assist the Security team with protecting networks, data, and systems by identifying vulnerabilities, researching threats, supporting incident response, and maintaining security initiatives across the enterprise.

What you'll do:

• Assist in the development of security processes and preventative controls
• Analyze systems for vulnerabilities and participate in research of potential threats
• Support incident response activities and learn escalation procedures
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure security initiatives are maintained
• Provide support to the designated department while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
• Perform and complete assignments given by your Manager
• Communicate effectively in written and oral formats across departments
• Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting
• Collaborate with other interns in the summer program

What they're looking for:

• Active enrollment and good standing at an accredited college or university
• Sucvcessful completion of at least 12 credit hours in computer technology or math-related coursework
• A strong interest in cyber security, information security, or a closely related field
• Housing in the Jackson, MS metro area
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Interns must be able to adapt and perform in a rapidly changing work environment
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing a computer screen
• Previous coursework or hands-on experience in security, networking, or systems administration
• Familiarity with basic cyber security tools and concepts
