Cyber Security IT Intern - REMOTE

CNO Financial Group is a leading insurance and financial services company focused on securing the future of middle-income America. They are hiring a Cyber Security Intern to work alongside experienced Cyber Security associates, assisting with various teams in Security, including Operations, Engineering, and Governance.

What you'll do:

• Exposure to enterprise cybersecurity operations and Security Operations Center functions
• Hands-on experience with industry-leading security tools and technologies
• Mentorship from experienced cybersecurity professionals
• Practical experience supporting incident response and threat detection activities
• Opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and professional skills
• Experience working in a collaborative enterprise IT environment

What they're looking for:

• Progress towards a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline
• Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of December 2027-June 2029
• Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer
• Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours
• Basic understanding of information technology concepts, including networking and operating systems
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices
• Ability to analyze information and identify patterns or anomalies
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Previous internship, work experience, or academic projects related to cybersecurity or information technology
• Familiarity with security concepts such as phishing, malware, endpoint security, authentication, and network security
• Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python or PowerShell
• Participation in cybersecurity clubs, competitions, labs, or Capture-the-Flag (CTF) activities
