About this role
LevelBlue, a managed security services provider, is seeking a Cyber Security Lab Technician to support its Digital Forensics and Incident Response team. This entry-level role performs forensic imaging and analysis, manages electronic evidence and chain-of-custody records, maintains evidence databases, and supports lab operations and administrative projects.
What you'll do:
- Document and preserve data from electronic data sources using forensic imaging techniques on various media including laptop and desktop computers, servers, and mobile devices
- Support forensic examiners by conducting forensic analysis
- Maintain proficiency with industry standard tools and practices
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in all areas of performance
- Develop and broaden forensic skill set through outside training and research
- Assist in management onsite of all evidence
- Assist in maintenance of highly organized and secure evidence room
- Receive incoming evidence from clients or third parties and initiate Chain of Custody records
- Locate evidence as needed
- Track evidence through hard copy Chain of Custody records
- Assist in client property return during and at the end of a case
- Create new evidence listings in the database for all media associated by matter
What they're looking for:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, IT Security/Cyber Security, a related field or equivalent years of industry experience
- Comfort with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and browser software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Perform highly detailed work with clear goals and minimal direction
- Able to manage multiple priorities with flexibility and enthusiasm
- Work effectively and professionally with others
- Able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis
- This role is an in-person/in-office role to support the DFIR and operations team
- This role is an on-site position, based in our New York City office
- This role is open to candidates legally authorized to work in the United States
- Exposure to industry standard data collection tools such as CelleBrite, LogicCube Forensic Falcon, Magnet GreyKey, etc. is preferred
- General knowledge of computer hardware terminology preferred
