Cybersecurity Intern

HF Sinclair is an energy company seeking a Cybersecurity Intern for its Summer 2027 program. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting security operations, governance, risk and compliance, third-party cyber risk management, phishing response, and cybersecurity project management.

What you'll do:

• Assist the Cyber GRC team in policy and document management, including the revision and creation
• Support of the Third-Party Cyber Risk Management Program (TPCRM), including vendor assessments and monitoring activities
• Aid in documenting cyber maturity assessments, providing input to the enterprise cyber strategy
• Assist in monitoring security alerts from SIEM and other Cybersecurity tools, learning to spot common threats and aid initial event and incident response under guidance
• Assist in monitoring security alerts with SIEM tools, learning to spot common threats and aid initial incident response under guidance
• Assist in phishing response efforts by reviewing reported suspicious emails, documenting indicators, and supporting basic mitigation under supervision
• Assist the Cybersecurity Project Manager in collecting and reporting on project status
• Participate in special security assignments or projects as assigned by your supervisor
• Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

What they're looking for:

• No prior experience required; exposure to AI, analytics, or programming is a plus
• Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Program for Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related discipline is required
• Proficient in M365 Suite of Tools
• Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong interest in technology and cybersecurity
• Effective communication skills written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Office based
• Job conditions require sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, lifting and/or carrying up to 5lbs, pushing or pulling up to 5 lbs, climbing up to 2ft, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences
