The Data Analyst organizes, analyzes, and distributes data to support internal analysis, grant reporting, and advocacy, while preparing datasets, maintaining reports, fulfilling data requests, and improving data systems and workflows.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare, clean, and organize data for analysis across multiple systems
  • Build and maintain reports that deliver timely, accurate information on the shelter system
  • Fulfill and track data requests from teams across the organization
  • Partner and support teams with their data requests. Anticipate these needs and plan accordingly
  • Document data processes, reports, and workflows to support consistency, quality, and institutional knowledge
  • In partnership with the Data Manager and Coalition teams, identify opportunities to improve the Coalition's systems and tools for storing, distributing, and analyzing data
  • Obtain regular supervision from the Data Manager to review assigned tasks, troubleshoot concerns and ensure that department and agency needs are met
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Data Manager or designee

What they're looking for:

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including comfort communicating about data to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work with agency teams in a supportive and collaborative manner
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on deadlines independently
  • Curious, motivated, and eager to continue developing technical skills
  • Commitment to the mission of the Coalition for the Homeless
  • Bachelor's degree and 1–2 years of professional experience working with data for reporting or analysis (or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • Experience cleaning and preparing data with a coding language such as Python, R, or SQL strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or similar strongly preferred
