Data Analyst Intern

Interstates is an electrical, controls, automation, and operations technology company serving industrial facilities. The Data Analyst Intern will support data collection, cleaning, analysis, reporting, dashboard development, visualization, data modeling, process improvements, and collaboration with business and technical teams.

What you'll do:

• Collect, clean, and organize data from multiple sources for analysis and reporting
• Assist in building dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel
• Identify trends, correlations, and insights to support business decisions
• Support ongoing data projects, including data modeling, process improvements, and system integrations
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business users to understand needs and provide actionable information
• Document data processes and maintain accuracy and consistency across reports

What they're looking for:

• Understanding of business analytics concepts and data visualization techniques
• Familiarity with SQL or other database query languages
• Basic knowledge of predictive analytics, statistics, or data modeling
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• This position is an in person role located in Sioux Center, IA or Sioux Falls, SD. No remote work
• Minimal travel may be required for training and team collaboration
• Experience with analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, R, or Python
• Interest in learning how data supports decision-making within industrial or technology-driven environments
