About this role

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Data Analyst for the Transit Development unit within the Department of Transportation. The role involves data analysis to support the Transit Signal Priority program and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance public transit operations.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with data analysis to support the Unit’s Transit Signal Priority (TSP) program
  • Collaborate with internal and external agency staff to develop future priority corridors
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing corridors
  • Identify opportunities to improve TSP effectiveness through data exploration and analysis
  • Assist with other data-driven assignments pertaining to Real Time Passenger Information, automated enforcement, bus shelters and bus stops, and related prioritization analyses

What they're looking for:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above
  • Ability to perform quantitative analysis preferably with public transit data
  • Design aptitude
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including delivering presentations
  • Capacity for problem-solving
  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience with Synchro
  • Experience with GIS
