Data Analyst - Underwriting Analytics

Novacore is a specialty insurance company focused on tailored solutions for niche industries through analytics, technology, and innovation. The Data Analyst - Underwriting Analytics supports reporting and carrier deliverables while preparing claims, exposure, and policy data for data science initiatives. The role also develops dashboards, automates reporting, and helps optimize business operations.

What you'll do:

• Build, automate, and maintain internal and external reporting for your assigned programs
• Resolve manual steps and formalize reporting into full recurring deliverables
• Stand up reporting from scratch for new or transferring programs
• Convert reporting backlog requests into production dashboards, ranging from straightforward pulls to net-new builds requiring disaggregation work
• Know when a request should stay a one-off Excel pull and when it belongs as a page in NovaLytics, our consolidated Power BI reporting environment. NovaLytics is the default; one-off Excel is the exception — the judgment call that keeps reporting from sprawling into duplicate, hard-to-maintain files
• Pull and structure claims, exposure, and policy data into model-ready shape for your team's Data Scientist

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree
• 1-2 years' experience in a similar role, prior P&C insurance experience preferred
• Strong Excel skills
• SQL experience, comfortable writing and maintaining queries, not just running them
• Power BI experience building and maintaining reports and dashboards
• Comfortable with Python to a degree, for data prep and automation. Not expected to be a software engineer
