Kentro is hiring a Data Engineer to support the Defense Health Agency and the Medical Logistics IT division. This role will support the MEDLOG IT PMO as it leads the charge to replace capabilities in legacy MEDLOG IT applications and fully implement LogiCole.  Upon reaching full operating capability, LogiCole will roll all legacy medical logistics applications into a single, web-based application and provide an enterprise view of all logistics lines of business. This role will be a pivotal part of the implementation of LogiCole and the decommissioning of legacy applications – providing intuitive user interfaces, leveraging authoritative product and sourcing data, and fully integrating federal and industry partners. 

 

Location: Fort Detrick, MD - Remote or hybrid work can be considered based on project requirements. 

 

Compensation Range: The salary for this position is between $160,000 - $180,000. Factors affecting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.


Responsibilities

  • Work across value streams to lead and support project management activities in the implementation of the LogiCole application.    
  • Complete functional data analysis based on current business problems. 
  • Support a data validation pipeline to ensure all data validation meets established requirements.  
  • Support data migration and validation efforts for all MVCs throughout LogiCole implementation. 
  • Monitor database performance, scalability, and security. 
  • Work with development team to automate data validation. 
  • Evaluate existing databases and design to determine efficacy, access and security requirements, potential updates, performance, tuning, and integration requirements. 
  • Provide analysis of legacy medical logistics transactional, data and reporting capabilities. 
  • Within the DML-ES systems, help manage multiple types of data from multiple sources, including anticipated changes based on phase of project implementation. 
  • Support design and development of enterprise Java application using the Spring Framework. 
  • Coordinate requirements/acceptance criteria with the functional community and validate that the product meets the acceptance criteria prior to accepting functionality. 
  • Propose improvement strategies in collaboration with Government Leads and Product Owners. 
  • Aid various strategic and business process improvement efforts.  
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in AWS and DevOps to continuously improve our infrastructure and processes 
  • The primary work location is onsite at Fort Detrick, MD. If the candidate meets all client requirements, possible work arrangements can be made for other locations.   

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in Data Science or relate field  
  • Proficiency with Mongo DB, PostGres, Python, SQL, Java, Nifi  
  • Experience with Spring Framework  
  • Experience using statistical methods for the measurement of outcomes 
  • Experience with metadata management and AWS cloud infrastructure, including cyber security requirements  
  • Experience with reporting tools such as SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.3, including web Intelligence (Webi) 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field or applicable experience   
  • Experience as a management consultant / business analyst supporting federal government customers – Medical Logistics/supply chain   experience strongly preferred  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance 
  • Travel may be required up to 10% based on project needs
