As the Data Engineering Intern, you will write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks.
## Job Description
We are looking for a Data Engineering Intern. This role is a full-time internship and is remote. This internship is a full-time opportunity requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week and will run from June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available during core business hours for the entire 9-week duration of the program. Please note that all work must be performed within the United States.
## What You'll Do
- Write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks
- Develop data transformations using Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and SQL
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions
- Create and optimize Databricks jobs to process data at scale
- Write unit tests and validation logic to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability
- Document code, workflows, and technical decisions to support team knowledge sharing
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data engineering practices
- Troubleshoot data issues and optimize pipeline performance
- Learn and apply best practices for building production-grade data platforms
## What You'll Need
Required:
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher
- Strong Python programming skills with ability to write clean, maintainable code
- Understanding of SQL and relational data concepts
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and ask for help when neededPreferred:
- Experience with Apache Spark or PySpark
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline design
- Exposure to Databricks, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or similar data engineering tools
- Familiarity with SQL notebooks or Jupyter notebooks
- Experience with testing frameworks or CI/CD concepts
