Data Management Intern

The Texas Department of Transportation is a public transportation agency seeking a Data Management Intern. The role provides entry-level support for data management, analytics, reporting, documentation, and AI/ML activities, including data preparation, dashboard support, and technical documentation.

What you'll do:

• Assist in developing, training and evaluating machines learning models for various AI driven initiatives
• Conduct data cleaning, preprocessing, and exploratory data analysis to support model development and improvement
• Process data and analytics requests for the organization, including requests to supports existing data analytics reports and dashboards maintained by data management team
• Assist with data exploration efforts for data analytics team
• Assists in drafting and reviewing program documents, such as business requirements, technical specification documents and schedule amendments, training presentations, and other documents as directed
• Assist with other Data Management activities as appropriate

What they're looking for:

• Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution
• Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school
• Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools
• Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
• Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
• Sitting - prolonged periods of time
• Standing-prolonged periods of time
• Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
• The chosen candidate must be able to report in person to our Austin Stassney Campus for the duration of their internship
• Preference will be given to students enrolled in an Information Science, Data Science, Economics, or similar program at any level
