Data Science & Analytics Intern

Valvoline Global Operations is an automotive and industrial solutions company seeking a Data Science & Analytics Intern for a hands-on summer internship. The intern will scope business problems, analyze data, build statistical or machine learning models, develop visualizations, and present actionable recommendations to leadership and business stakeholders.

What you'll do:

• Scope and frame a real business problem in partnership with the Data Science & Analytics team, translating a business question into an analytical approach
• Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple internal systems, ensuring quality and consistency before analysis
• Build and test models or statistical approaches (e.g., forecasting, segmentation, predictive modeling) appropriate to the project
• Design clear dashboards and visualizations that make complex findings easy for stakeholders to understand and act on
• Collaborate cross-functionally with pricing, commercial, supply chain, IT, and other teams to validate assumptions and refine your analysis
• Synthesize insights into clear, actionable recommendations for the business problem you're addressing
• Present findings and recommendations to Data & AI leadership and relevant business stakeholders

What they're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Analytics, or a related quantitative field
• Proficiency in Python or R and SQL, with exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Solid foundation in statistics and machine learning concepts, with the ability to apply them to messy, real-world data
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; comfort working with incomplete information and explaining technical findings clearly
• Must be able to work on-site at VGO's Cincinnati, OH headquarters
• Familiarity with SAP Datasphere and Databricks preferred
• Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in data analytics, data engineering, or business intelligence a plus
