Data Science and AI/Machine learning Intern

Fishbeck is a 100% employee-owned firm seeking a Data Science and AI/Machine Learning Intern to support its IT Team. The intern will collect, clean, and analyze data; assist with machine learning and generative AI initiatives; create visualizations; evaluate models; and collaborate on data-driven solutions.

What you'll do:

• Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets
• Assist in developing machine learning models for prediction, classification, and trend analysis
• Support AI initiatives involving generative AI, natural language processing, and automation
• Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate insights effectively
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and opportunities
• Help evaluate model performance and recommend improvements
• Document methodologies, findings, and best practices
• Participate in technology research and proof-of-concept projects related to AI and emerging technologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions

What they're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and statistical analysis
• Experience with Python and data analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or Scikit-learn
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Candidates for this position can reside in the West Michigan market
