Data Science Intern - Summer 2027

Meijer is a family company serving people and communities through retail operations. The Data Science Intern will support product development and business teams in defining, developing, and implementing data science solutions while gaining experience with cloud-based machine learning and artificial intelligence platforms.

What you'll do:

• The Data Science team at Meijer leads the strategy, development and integration of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at Meijer
• Our Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with teams with product development and business teams to define, develop and implement a data science-based solution
• Over the course of the summer the intern will have the opportunity to work with the latest cloud technology including machine learning and artificial intelligence platforms

• Progress toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree – Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field
• Customer focused -- dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
• Relationship skills -- can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies
• Communication skills -- conveys the right information in writing and verbally
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, and cloud-based platforms like Databricks
• Analytical Skills: Expertise in data mining, statistical modeling, and machine learning
• Reporting and Visualization Tools: Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, and similar tools
• Project Management: Familiarity with Agile methodology and project management principles and practices
