Data Scientist I

EOG Resources is seeking a Data Scientist I to support division engineers by gathering information and identifying insights from large structured and unstructured datasets. The role involves applying machine learning, analytical, visualization, and programming skills while managing multiple projects and collaborating with vendors, division personnel, and the IS team.

What you'll do:

• Will work with division engineers to understand needs and gather information
• Must have the ability to understand and discover new insights in large structured and unstructured data sets
• Must have knowledge of machine learning, analytical, visualization and programming
• Participate in and manage multiple projects which will require interaction with vendors, division personnel and IS team
• Analytical skills in mathematics, statistics and machine learning
• Ability to understand and discover new insights in large structured and unstructured data sets
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong presentation, coordination and organizational skills
• Solutions oriented, goal driven analytical person who likes to work on teams and get things done. Should be self-starter

What they're looking for:

• • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent will be considered
• • Analytical skills in mathematics, statistics and machine learning
• • Ability to understand and discover new insights in large structured and unstructured data sets
• • Strong written and oral communication skills
• • Strong presentation, coordination and organizational skills
• • Solutions oriented, goal driven analytical person who likes to work on teams and get things done. Should be self-starter
• • Experience with SQL, R, Python, MATLAB and other programming tools preferred
